Inspired by campground kitchens and traditional army mess tents, this jarrah kitchen is enlivened with accents of Resene Pohutukawa.

Design inspiration can come from many sources. For this house, the designer was inspired by several old army barracks on the 10ha rural property.
Stephen Voyle of Context Architecture designed the house as a series of pavilions reminiscent of tents. With its jarrah portal-framed island, the kitchen in the communal pavilion, further enhances the visual metaphor.
Cabinets and shelving on the rear wall are painted in Resene Pohutukawa, a vibrant red that works well with both the jarrah and the Resene Linen on the walls.
Karen Warman, Resene marketing manager, says paints recommended for kitchen broadwall areas include Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen Kitchen & Bathroom, and Resene Lustacryl Kitchen & Bathroom semi-gloss. Both paint types combine anti-bacterial silver protection and MoulDefender mould inhibitor.
"These paints are also Environmental Choice-approved, durable and easy to wipe down," Warman says.
Recommended paints for cabinets include Resene ArmourCat – a range of solid colour, metallic and clear finishes.
