Colourful stairs zigzag up the glazed front of the Ernst & Young and Westpac on Takutai Square buildings in the Britomart East precinct. The balustradings feature Resene paints.
It's not always the most complex ideas that turn heads. Sometimes, a simple, yet innovative use of colour can make a dramatic design statement.

The Westpac on Takutai Square and Ernst & Young building project in the Britomart East precinct, a finalist in the Property Council New Zealand Property Awards, provides a good example. Glazed walls to the stairwells help to animate the building frontages and provide a strong sense of connection between inside and out. The use of bright yellow and red Resene paints on the balustradings further enhances the dynamic look.
Karen Warman, Resene marketing manager, says waterborne enamels, such as Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen used on these stairs, are popular for commercial and residential interiors as the paints are low-odour and Environmental Choice-approved – a key consideration when specifying products to achieve a Green Star rating. The paints are durable, easy to wipe down, and come in a wide range of colours from the Resene Total Colour System.
