Meryl Southey
With a diploma in interior design, certificates in Colour Therapy and a passion for international trends and creativity, I like to apply my knowledge of how colour works to help my clients create spaces that reflect their wants, needs and personalities. My roles with Resene have developed over many years in the industry working with both retail and commercial customers on projects big and small. I currently work with clients in New Zealand and Australia helping them with colour advice online and through virtual colour consultations and provide expert advice for a range of media. I love how my work varies daily from residential homes to quirky paint projects.

With a bachelor's degree in Spatial Design and a diploma in Interior Design I have developed a genuine passion for crafting beautiful colour schemes and love bringing my clients ideas to life. I find it incredibly fulfilling to help create spaces that not only look amazing but also reflect my clients unique design style. I am one of the Auckland Residential Colour Consultants. My primary role is assisting people with interior and exterior colour choices. After finishing my Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours, I began looking for a career path. This led me to Resene where I started out in the Newmarket Resene ColorShop back in 2020 and immediately took a loving to colour matching and making custom colours. This helped developed my love of interior design and I look forward to helping you find the perfect colours for your projects.

I've been sharing my love for colour and design with all my clients, both residential and commercial, for over 20 years at Resene. As well as assisting many clients, I have firsthand experience of the new build process on my own first home and have completed many home renovations. I take the time to listen to your needs and what you want to achieve out of your project and work with you to create something that is personal to you. My journey with Resene started working in the Tauranga Resene ColorShop which provided me with invaluable hands-on product and colour knowledge. With a love for colour, textiles and design, I completed the NZ Certificate in Interior Décor and NZ Diploma in Interior Design to develop my expertise even further. With a strong fascination towards colour psychology, and the emotional impact it can have, it's my passion to work alongside clients to develop colour schemes to suit their own individual lifestyle and personality.

After many years in retail fashion I started at Resene as a Colour Consultant in 2010 based in the Dunedin Resene ColorShop. With a passion for colour I love helping clients develop colour schemes whether they are classic/contemporary, bold or quirky and bringing their ideas to life. I assist clients with colour options for a wide variety of projects from exterior and interior repaints to new builds/schools/hospitality and commercial projects. Navigating all the options can be a very daunting process and this is where I can help.
