time for colour

With a client loving colour, this project was never going to be all-white.

This home is situated on a slightly sloping section, with the property being two storey at the front with double garage underneath and as you walk along the side of the house, it becomes one storey with a self-contained cottage and flat section at the rear. On the right-hand side a large entertainment area runs out to a decking area that then wraps right around the outside of the self-contained cottage to the other side of the house.

Initially there were plans to use orange in multiple locations with greys and whites. Colour Studio helped to simplify the palette so that the colours would not compete with each other, keeping the orange just to the cottage area.

The house was well overdue for an exterior repaint, as it hadn’t been painted in at least 15 years. The weatherboards of the main house have been painted in Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss tinted to Resene Double Alabaster, the cottage weatherboards in Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss tinted to Resene Clockwork Orange and the concrete base in Resene Sonyx 101 in Resene Half Bokara Grey. For the finishing touches, the windows are painted in Resene Enamacryl in Resene Double Alabaster and the doors and steel balustrade are in Resene Enamacryl in Resene Bokara Grey.

The transformation from old to new showcased the impact a different colour scheme can have on the exterior of a building and the joy a confident colour scheme can bring to an owner.
