It could not have colours that were too bright as the work involves a lot of compliance type thinking work and project management. But there was also a desire to avoid having white everywhere. Natural light streams into most rooms. With a mishmash of furniture and accessories to work with, the colours needed to be versatile to work with a range of other elements.

The Breenhomes bike was the starting inspiration for the colours. The bike sits in the smoko room and is now teamed with a big feature wall in Resene Explorer – this also contrasts brilliantly with the bright yellow sofa.

Resene House White provides a neutral base for the varied blue hues of Resene Zylone Sheen and Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen in Resene Dusted Blue, Resene Half Duck Egg Blue, Resene Explorer and Resene Bismark, each flowing from one to the next through the space. Silver Pearl had already been selected for the internal aluminium joinery, so Resene Silver Chalice complements this well for the internal doors.

With the blue skies in Central Otago, the colours chosen reflect the blue of the sky and complement the brown hills.
