They wanted something that was a standout and would be enhanced by the surrounding greenery.

This project was a wonderful new build for a three generation family designed to incorporate the needs of John and Nicky Collins, their daughter and granddaughter. The home is situated in a rural setting ten minutes from central Wanganui with lots of mature trees surrounding the home, which is situated on approximately three acres of flat land. This will be John and Nicky’s final home and they wanted to create something smart, unique and simply stunning.
The designer’s brief was they didn’t want the same as everyone else. They didn’t want earthy that would blend in with the landscape. They wanted something that was a standout and would be enhanced by the surrounding greenery. The use of LINEA® weatherboards and Celcrete gave great texture definition. To define the two areas, two contrasting colours were selected – Resene Lumbersider CoolColour Nero on the LINEA® and Resene Black White on the Celcrete to give it a punchy freshness.

Rather than keeping the home in one overall colour, varying areas have been highlighted with contrasting colours. The entrance is a fabulous mix of the Resene Nero and Resene Black White, showcasing the crisp clean lines and various materials used. Where the scheme was predominantly Resene Black White, highlights in Resene Nero on areas such as the chimney breast were added for interest.
The combination of Resene Nero and Resene Black White is classic, timeless, fresh and always stunning. It may only be two colours and they may be classic but the overall effect is simply stunning.
