New Brighton, Christchurch
Seeking a luxurious bathroom was limited by space, until a separate bathroom and toilet was combined to give enough space for one truly luxurious room.

The old original ceiling boards have been exposed and with the new and original floorboards sanded and painted and a large mirror to reflect light and space, the room melds into one.

Texture was added with Anaglypta 80027 finished in Resene Shark and Resene Silver Chalice, with the black chandelier and the sills and door frame in Resene Black. With a white shower, bath, toilet and sink, it made sense to do the skirtings and ceilings white. The grey of Resene Silver Chalice and Resene Shark work perfectly together to soften and complement the black and white.
The mirror showcases all the colour and textures together. It took three attempts to get the perfect mirror – the first one was not measured properly, the second one cracked and the third one worked like magic. The excess glass was used to cover an old black filing cabinet.

Stepping outside the bathroom, the living area was plain with photos everywhere to cover the walls. Once a few walls were knocked out there was the opportunity to do something new. Each of the walls are finished in different wallpaper and colours, with Resene Turbo and wallpapers 13151-30 and 448323. Coming into the lounge each day is a bright way to start; the sun is always shining when you have a yellow wall.
