Timaru
PJF Services was awarded the contract for the external repaint of the Gardens Block, Chapel and Clinical Services Block of the Timaru Hospital, with a focus on transforming a typical older style hospital building into a new fresh medical facility though the use of colour and creativity.
The client wanted to freshen up the older drab building and the most cost-effective way was to do this through the use of colour and the creative placement of it over the different substrates on the building, using a palette of Resene Quill Grey, Resene Alabaster and a feature colour of Resene Woodstock. Resene Project Services worked with the client to develop this colour palette.

The paint specification was chosen to provide a lasting protection to the buildings substrates. Resene X-200 was chosen because of its superior durability and weathertightness qualities. Resene Lustacryl was specified on the windows and trims to provide a durable and hard-wearing surface and give a lustre contrast on trims.
With the building having a huge number of timber windows, the painting team came up with the solution to spray the windows with a masking film to protect the glass. This system was very effective and saved hours of labour providing substantial cost savings for the client.
The project was complex and included a range of access solutions such as fixed scaffolding, swinging stage access and the use of a custom built 28 metre boom lift access. The team worked tirelessly over a four-month period to complete this project on budget and safely with no accidents.
