This is a modest alteration to a very poorly constructed 1970s bach on Waiheke Island.

So much so, that the builder ended up demolishing the entire building at the beginning of the build, due to the lack of good practise applications and materials within the existing house.

The resulting retirement house is a very low maintenance two bedroom beach house with all day sun and access to all the amenities that Waiheke Island can offer on their doorstep.

Two distinctly contrasting yet complementary colours from the Karen Walker Paints range, now decorate the exterior, which connects well to the colours within the Waiheke landscape. Resene Lumbersider in Resene Fuscous Grey was applied to the street facade, providing not only a great back drop to the entry planting, but a sense of strength and security. The second softer tone, Resene Robin Egg Blue has a strong connection to the Pohutukawa leaf, a softer palette that engages with the private more informal side of the house. Soffits in Resene Alabaster and supporting screen structures that mark the entry points to the house help to accentuate the expansiveness of these canopy forms, providing a welcoming gesture.

The interior continues the theme with Resene Hemisphere, Resene Alabaster and trims in Resene Blackout.
