While wanting something different, the final look still had to be sympathetic to its surroundings – as well as complementing the existing architectural elements of the old house.

I chose Resene Earlybird as it reflected tones in both the terracotta tiles of the roof and soft stripes ingrained in the sandstone flagstones.

The garage door, columns and corbels were painted in soft contrasting Resene Barbecue paint and metal work in Resene Blackjack, including the custom built balustrade.

The colour changes amazingly during the course of the day – from blue to brown. Love it!
