This renovated family home uses colour to unite old and new architecture, allowing the modern and traditional to sit comfortably together.
Colour energises the light filled rooms. The soft green Resene Double Linen walls of the existing architecture create a sophisticated yet neutral background, while off white trims in Resene Half Joanna emphasise the existing decorative timberwork and the new architectural insertion. Bold colour, pattern and texture come together to create a contemporary family sitting room, while subtle tones are used to harmonise and separate private zones within the house.
A strong red rug and soft blues in the upholstery form a striking contrast against the neutral background. Botanical prints are featured throughout the house; on upholstery and the sitting room wallpaper. Prints were used to generate texture, and create interior landscapes, in order to reference the strong connection the architecture holds with the exterior landscape.
