victorian style brought to the 21st century
15 Park Street, Thorndon, Wellington
This character villa nestled in Wellington oozes spirit and charm. The brief from the client was to make the formal dining room bright and warm.
With hardly any natural light a bright paint colour was essential. Resene Saffron was the colour chosen and it worked well with all the existing furniture and feature elements.
The original wallpaper was found hidden under layers of existing wallpaper dating back to the 1900s. This wallpaper was reproduced by Sans Pareil Screenprint and then re-hung by Norman Honey. The colours in the wallpaper were matched to the original as an exact replica was essential. Resene Gold from the metallics range, Resene Jumpstart and Resene specials Sans Pareil Medium Red, Medium Pink, Light Pink and Red were chosen.
This dining room is now very cosy and it brings the history of the room back to the 21st century.
