Retro storage cabinet

Turn an old record player upcycled into a retro storage cupboard.

Resene upcycling for good with Megan Gowan - Project 01

You will need

Top tip:  Bright colours really brings life to any space. Megan used Resene Tangerine on this cabinet which makes it pop and gives it that retro feel. It’s a simple trick that really transforms any space and gives it a wow statement. Projects like this are the perfect opportunity to use your favourite Resene paint colour that you may not be brave enough to use on a wall.

Instructions

  1. Wipe down and remove record player from inside the cabinet.

  2. Remove knobs, and mask up the radio console on the front of the cabinet. Remove doors.

  3. Apply first coat of Resene Tangerine, let dry, and then apply 1-2 more coats.

  4. Paint both doors in your choice of colour; Megan used Resene French Pass.

  5. Lightly sanded the cabinet to give a distressed shabby chic look.

  6. Measure and cut fabric of your choice. Iron flat to make it easy glue to front panel of the cabinet door.

  7. Use spray adhesive to secure fabric to the panel.

  8. Add a new handle to the door and you’re done!
