Undertaking a little DIY over the summer break doesn’t need to be complicated. Here we’ve turned a plain wooden stool into an eye-catching outdoor essential with nothing but a lick of Resene paint

Enjoy the sunshine while tackling a little light DIY with this simple project to convert a plain or secondhand stool into a crafty piece that doubles as a mini table. Now lie back with a cool drink and relax!
You will need:
Instructions:
Mask off the seat and the ends of each leg (or use a design of your liking).
Paint the top of the stool. Once dry, paint the leg ends and leave to dry. Repeat with another coat of paint.
Remove masking tape.
Tips:
If any wooden parts are looking worse for wear you can either paint over them or sand back then stain with Resene Colorwood natural wood stain to restore the colour. When the stain is dry, finish in Resene Aquaclear for an easy-clean surface.
For a whitewashed look use Resene Colorwood Whitewash on timber areas.
Use masking tape to create a pattern on the stool seat – stripes, shapes, blocks and more – then paint with some of your favourite Resene colours in contrasting hues. A handy way to indulge all your favourite colours in one place!
