Wooden puzzle
Create this classic wooden tangram puzzle with a little bit of help from Resene.
Resene Toys and Games with Mark Rayner - Project 11
Difficulty level: Moderate
You will need: Paintbrush, Paint stirrer, Pencil, Resene Aquaclear gloss, Resene Colorwood Enhance in Resene Red Brown, Piece of plywood, Ruler, Sandpaper, Saw
To get the look: Mark painted the table with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Quarter Surrender.
Other ideas: Use MDF instead of plywood and paint the puzzle pieces with your favourite testpot colour, priming first with Resene Quick Dry.
Step one
Use a ruler to mark out a square on the plywood measuring approximately 180mm x 180mm.
Step two
Use the back of the saw, as shown, to ensure sides are at right angles, and then cut out the plywood square.
Step three
Mark out the puzzle pieces onto the square of plywood, as shown, using a pencil and ruler.
Step four
Carefully cut out the puzzle pieces using the saw.
Step five
Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
Step six
Add the Resene Colorwood Enhance to the
Resene Aquaclear and stir well.
Step seven
Apply one coat of the tinted
Resene Aquaclear to the puzzle pieces, allowing two hours to dry.
Step eight
Apply a second coat of the tinted
Resene Aquaclear to the puzzle pieces. Again, allow two hours to dry.
