Ways with wood with Mark Rayner – Project 103
Difficulty level: Moderate
To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene French Pass.
Other ideas: For a pale effect, stain the reclaimed wood with Resene Colorwood Whitewash.
Step one
Measure and mark two 155mm lengths, and two 640mm lengths of reclaimed wood, as shown.
Step two
Using the pencil marks as a guide, cut the reclaimed wood to size with a saw.
Step three
Sand the pieces of reclaimed wood and then wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step four
Assemble the pieces of reclaimed wood to form a rectangular frame, as shown. Fix at each corner with PVA glue and panel pins. Allow glue to dry.
Step five
Carefully stir the Resene Aquaclear.
Step six
Apply one coat of Resene Aquaclear to the outside of the wooden frame, as shown, and allow to dry.
Step seven
Apply a second coat of Resene Aquaclear to the outside of the wooden frame, as shown, and allow to dry.
Step eight
Plant up the growing trough with potting mix and the selection of potted herbs and then stand the growing trough inside the wooden frame.
