Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 60
Difficulty level: Moderate
You will need: Paintbrushes (including an artists’ brush), Pencil, Piece of MDF, Polystyrene packing chips, PVA glue, Resene Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene testpots of Resene Alabaster and Resene Torea Bay, Small pebbles, a few pieces of ribbon, twigs, a nozzle from a glue tube, and a cap from a takeaway coffee cup

Here's another idea: Create this fun pencil holder from a small cardboard box – simply paint with Resene Blackberry and Resene Pizazz and glue on a few polystyrene chips.

Let it snow!

Another idea: Pencil holder
Step one
Draw a snowman shape on the piece of MDF with a pencil.
Step two
Glue polystyrene chips to the snowman shape using PVA, and include a few ‘snowflakes’ around, as shown. Allow the glue to dry
Step three
Apply one coat of
Resene Quick Dry to the polystyrene chips and MDF, and allow two hours to dry
Step four
Apply two coats of
Resene Alabaster to the polystyrene chips and MDF, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step five
Paint in the sky, around the snowflakes, with two coats of
Resene Torea Bay, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step six
Glue small pebbles to form the eyes, mouth and buttons, and a piece of ribbon to form the scarf. Use a nozzle from a glue tube to make the nose, and a cap from a takeaway coffee cup to form the hat. Allow the glue to dry and hang up your snowy masterpiece!
