Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 61

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need:

  • Clean cloth
  • Paint stirrer
  • Paintbrush
  • Painted wooden chair
 

To get the look:  Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Egg Sour and Resene Chardonnay.

Other ideas:  For a rich deep red effect paint the chair with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Pohutukawa.

Step 1 Step one
Carefully remove the upholstered seat and back.
Step 2 Step two
Lightly sand the chair to ‘key’ the surface.
Step 3 Step three
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 4 Step four
Carefully stir the Resene Quick Dry.
Step 5 Step five
Spot prime any areas of bare wood with Resene Quick Dry and allow to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene St Kilda.
Step 7 Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene St Kilda to the chair and allow to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene St Kilda to the chair and allow to dry. Replace the upholstered seat and back.
