You will need
- Clean cloths
- Paint stirrer
- Paintbrushes
- Plastic container with clean warm water
- Karen Walker Chalk Colour tinted to Resene Powder Blue
- Karen Walker Soft Wax
- Resene Interior Paintwork Cleaner
- Resene Quick Dry
- Rubber gloves
- Sandpaper
- Varnished wooden chair
To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Saltpan.
Other ideas: For a vibrant orange effect, paint the chair with Karen Walker Chalk Colour tinted to Resene Clementine Orange.
How to chalk paint and wax a chair
Step one
Wipe off any surface dust from the chair with a clean damp cloth.
Step two
Thoroughly clean the surface using Resene Interior Paintwork Cleaner. Dry the surface with a clean dry cloth.
Step three
Lightly sand the chair to ‘key’ the surface.
Step four
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean dry cloth.
Step five
Carefully stir the Karen Walker Chalk Colour tinted to Resene Powder Blue.
Step six
Apply one coat of Karen Walker Chalk Colour tinted to Resene Powder Blue to the chair and allow to dry.
Step seven
Apply a second coat of Karen Walker Chalk Colour tinted to Resene Powder Blue to the chair and allow to dry.
Step eight
Wearing rubber gloves, carefully apply a layer of Karen Walker Soft Wax to the chair using a clean cloth. If necessary, wipe off any excess wax with another clean cloth and allow the wax to dry.
