Transform a picture of your pet cat into a real masterpiece.
Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 01
Difficulty level: Moderate
You will need: Coloured glass nuggets, Photo of your cat, PVA glue, Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat, Resene Testpots in the following colours: Resene Bombshell and Resene Mandy, Wooden frame with backing cardboard
Top tip: If you don’t have a picture of your pet, use a photograph from an old magazine or calendar.
Here's another idea: Create an instant jungle feel by decorating your frame in a tiger pattern – we used testpots of Resene Chilean Fire and Resene Black.

Step two
Once the primer has dried, paint the frame with one coat of
Resene Mandy. Let this dry, and then paint it with a second coat of Resene Mandy. Leave the frame to dry.
Step three
Using the PVA, glue a line of glass nuggets around the top edge of the frame, as shown.
Step four
Continue gluing the nuggets around the remaining edges of the frame. Once all four edges are finished, leave the frame to dry overnight.
Step five
Paint the piece of backing cardboard with one coat of
Resene Bombshell. Leave this to dry then paint with a second coat.
Step six
Once the second coat has dried, place your cat photo on the piece of backing cardboard, trim to fit, then glue in position with a few of drops of PVA. Once it’s dry, put the picture and glass back into the frame, then step back and admire your masterpiece!
