Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 34

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Cardboard box, Glue stick, Large colour photo (we used a picture cutout from an old calendar), Masking tape Paintbrushes, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Havoc, Resene Nero and Resene Resolution Blue, Resene Quick Dry Waterborne Primer Undercoat, Scissors

Top tip: You can also find large colour photographs in most newspapers.

Here's another idea: Use another flat box to make a keyboard and hey presto - your very own cardboard box computer! How cool is that?

Step 1
Step one
Neaten up the box by placing masking tape along all the joins as shown. Use the scissors to cut the tape to size.

Paint the box with one coat of Resene Quick Dry Waterborne Primer Undercoat, allowing at least an hour to dry.
Step 3

Use the gluestick to glue the colour photo to the centre of the box, as shown. Leave to dry.
Step 4
Step four
Paint around the photo and all other sides of the box with two coats of Resene Nero, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 5
Step five
Paint dials along the front of the TV with Resene Havoc and allow to dry.
Step 6
Step six
Paint a screen frame around the colour photo with Resene Resolution Blue. Once it’s dry, start watching your very own TV.
